Mayor Clark called the meeting to order on Treaty 6 Territory and the Traditional Homeland of the Métis People.  Roll call was taken, followed by playing of the national anthem.

QUESTION PERIOD

7.1

Councillor B. Dubois - Foxtail Control [File No. CK.4200-2]

Councillor Dubois asked what the City and developers are doing about foxtails and who citizens can call for information.

Darren Crilly, Director of Parks, referred to a recent report to Council on the matter in April of 2021 and work committed to therein.  Update - foxtail mitigation guide and communication plan posted on website and shared on social media; working with developers on efforts to control the weed and upcoming meetings to review response; process flow and streamlined inquiries and follow-up; signage in problem areas.  He advised residents can call the Parks customers care line at 306-975-3300 and committed to ensuring Community Associations have all the information.

Release of Cremated Remains into the River (CK 4080-1)

• 1. That the scattering of cremated remains into the South Saskatchewan River, as outlined in the report of the General Manager, Community Services Division dated July 19, 2021, be permitted;
  2. That the Community Services Division be requested to draft guidelines respecting the scattering of cremated remains into the river; and
  3. That work continue respecting the possibility of identifying and constructing a permanent, dedicated location for the scattering of cremated remains.
