The Chair called the meeting to order on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis People. Roll call was taken.

    1. That the request to speak from Alan Wallace, ​Wallace Insights, dated May 26, 2022 be added to Item 7.1;
    2. That the agenda be approved as amended.

There were no declarations of conflict of interest.

    ​That the minutes of Regular Meeting of the Municipal Planning Commission held on April 26, 2022 be adopted.

    CARRIED

A report from the Administration was provided along with a request to speak from Alan Wallace, Wallace Insights on behalf of YWCA Saskatoon and Big Block.

Senior Planner McAdam presented the report with a PowerPoint and responded to questions of the Commission.

Administration provided clarification on the proposed amendments to the zoning agreement and confirmed the site under consideration for the amendments was shown on the location plan submitted with Appendix 1 to the report.

E. Oladokun entered the meeting at 12:08 p.m.

Alan Wallace gave a brief overview of the proposal and responded to questions of the Commission. It was noted Cara Bahr, CEO, YWCA Saskatoon was also in attendance. The Commission was further informed that some uses in the existing structure prevent a continuous building design, as a result the buildings will be two independent structures.

No concerns were expressed.

    That a copy of the May 31, 2022 report of the General Manager, Community Services be submitted to City Council recommending that at the time of the Public Hearing, City Council consider Administration’s recommendation that the amendment to Bylaw No. 8770, Zoning Bylaw, 2009, to amend the Zoning Agreement for 510 25th Street East, as outlined in the report, be approved.

A list of reports that were considered by City Council at its Public Hearing meeting on May 24, 2022 was provided.

The Chair provided a verbal report.

Development Review Manager Dawson spoke to the matter.

A list of upcoming planning conferences was provided.


The Committee Assistant reported that the Municipal Planning Commission has a budget of $7,000 for educational opportunities. 

The Commission members were requested to advise whether they would like to attend one of the 2022 planning conferences. The Commission members will review the list of planning conferences and advise of interest in attending a conference at the June 28, 2022 meeting.
