The Standing Policy Committee on Transportation, at its meeting held on January 13, 2020, considered a letter dated January 2, 2020 from Darren Gilchrist, President, Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians (AEBC Saskatoon). The Committee resolved that the matter be referred to the Saskatoon Accessibility Advisory Committee for feedback to the Administration. 

Deputy City Clerk Bryant had indicated, at the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation meeting, that there is a previous resolution that the Leadership Team Governance Subcommittee be directed to engage with the Advisory Committees with respect to the revised Terms of Reference by the second quarter of 2021, and suggested this item could be included with that review.

  • Recommendation

    That the Saskatoon Accessibility Advisory Committee provide feedback to the Administration on the matter. 

In accordance with the Committee’s Terms of Reference, it shall submit an annual report outlining the previous year’s accomplishments and a work plan for the upcoming year. 

This is a standing item on the agenda for the Committee, and/or any subcommittees, to provide updates regarding items on its work plan and any matters being referred to the Standing Policy Committee for
consideration.

As stated in the Terms of Reference, the Committee shall submit an annual report, in the prescribed form, outlining the previous year's accomplishments and a work plan for the upcoming year, to City Council
through the Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services. This report shall be submitted by March 31, 2020 and serve to demonstrate how the Committee remains relevant and
current.

A draft of the 2019 Annual Report and 2020 Work Plan is provided. The Committee is requested to review and prepare for discussion on the 2020 work plan section.

  • Recommendation

    That the Saskatoon Accessibility Advisory Committee finalize the 2019 Annual Report and 2020 Work Plan for submission to City Council through the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation by March 31, 2020.

A request from the Education and Awareness Subcommittee is provided.

  • Recommendation

    That the request for $2,543.70 be approved for the Accessibility Education and Awareness Expo.
