The Chair called the meeting to order.

    That the minutes of regular meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners held on December 12, 2019 be adopted.

Chair Brander expressed appreciation to the Saskatoon Police Service for hosting individual Board member visits over the holiday season to bring greetings.

Chief Cooper verbally updated on:

• The SPS Strategic Planning process – a report to the Board will be forthcoming in Q1 of 2020.
• Recovery of two officers recently injured in an accident.

Commissioner Clark discussed recent reports to Committee and upcoming to City Council regarding boarded up houses and apartments and the challenges around repeated calls to police and the need for a more coordinated approach.

Commissioner Healy discussed a forthcoming report from the Action Alliance, collaboration of knowledge and question of runaways, and resources.

    That a letter of thanks and commendation be sent to the Saskatoon branch of the Hotel Association thanking them for examining their own processes to assist police for attempting to end human trafficking in Saskatoon; and that should the Board be in favour of the foregoing motion, a similar letter be sent to the Canadian Association of Police Governance.

An email requesting representation of the Saskatoon Police Service to attend a meeting was submitted.

Chief Cooper advised the Board that the Saskatoon Police Service has reached out and made arrangements for a representative to attend the next meeting.  The Board discussed the value of also having a representative of the Board attend.  Commissioners Brander and Inglis-McQuay signalled interest in attending.

    That the information be received and a representative of the Board of Police Commissioners attend the next meeting of the Queen Elizabeth Community Association on March 3, 2020 at 7:00 pm.
