  • Recommendation

    That the minutes of the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation meeting held on March 1, 2021 be adopted.

The Saskatoon Accessibility and Advisory Committee 2020 Annual Report and 2021 Work Plan is provided.

  • Recommendation

    That the 2020 Annual Report and 2021 Work Plan - Saskatoon Accessibility Advisory Committee be forwarded to City Council for information.

  • Recommendation

    That the reports contained in Items 7.1.1 to 7.1.7 be received as information.

A report of the General Manager, Transportation & Construction is provided.

  • Recommendation

    That the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation recommend to City Council:

    That Capital Project #2328 - Transit Implementation Plan be increased by $500,000 in 2021 funded through the Bus Rapid Transit funding plan and decreasing the 2022 capital allocation to this project.

    That the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation recommend to City Council :

    That Option 4 - Protected Street-Level Bike Lanes with Parking along Victoria Avenue between 8th Street East and Taylor Street East be approved in principle.

  • Recommendation

    That the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation recommend to City Council:

    1. That the current practice for illumination continues, in which pole-top lighting with an appropriate power source will only be considered under very specific circumstances and only if it will effectively address the issues of concern without impacting the adjacent residents;
    2. That maintenance crews check walkways for graffiti vandalism as part of their regular maintenance program and report it via the Facilities’ Graffiti Tracker;
    3. That an education and awareness toolkit be prepared to improve community cohesion;
    4. That Crime Reporting Support Materials be prepared to encourage residents to report crime and to report appropriately;
    5. That Council Policy C07-017, Walkway Evaluation and Closure be replaced with a petition model format rather than the current criteria which requires vandalism, graffiti vandalism, illegal activity, or public safety issues which are deemed unmanageable by Saskatoon Police Service before being considered for closure;
    6. That the Administration administer the petition model for up to two applications in 2021 on a first-come, first-serve basis; and
    7. That wayfinding signage be installed in walkways where appropriate, and that guidelines to determine the appropriate locations for wayfinding signage be included in the Active Transportation Wayfinding Strategy.
