The Deputy City Clerk called the meeting to order.  The Committee was requested to elect an A/Chair for the meeting, due to the absence of the Chair and Vice-Chair.

    3. That the email from Peggy Sarjeant, President, Saskatoon Historical Society, dated September 16, 2019 be added to Item 6.3.1;
    4. That the items with speakers be considered immediately following consideration of Unfinished Business; and
    5. That the agenda be confirmed as amended.

A letter dated September 9, 2019 from Lenore Swystun, Chair, Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, was provided, along with a request to speak.

Ms. Lenore Swystun, Chair, Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee addressed the Committee regarding the Survey of Historic Places in Saskatchewan Municipalities and that the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee would like to send a letter of appreciation to the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.

Committee confirmed with the Administration that the City's Heritage Coordinator completed the survey on behalf of the City of Saskatoon and that they will be following up with the Ministry.

A letter dated September 9, 2019 from Lenore Swystun, Chair, Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, was provided, along with a request to speak.

Ms. Lenore Swystun, Chair, Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee asked for the Committee’s approval for the Education and Awareness Subcommittee of the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee to work with City Administration  to involve Community Elders to help guide the work of the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee in the areas of Indigenous history and heritage.

    That the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee work with Administration to invite Community Elders to provide guidance to the Committee and Subcommittee.

An information report and a letter dated September 9, 2019, from Lenore Swystun, Chair, Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, were provided, along with  a request to speak.

Ms. Andrea Lafond, Meewasin Valley Authority, also provided a request to speak.

Ms. Andrea Lafond, Meewasin Valley Authority provided the Committee with background of the panel process.

Ms. Lenore Swystun, Chair, Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee requested an additional lens to have Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee review the panels to ensure there is balance.

Mr. Alan Otterbein, Design and Development, Meewasin Valley Authority, was in attendance and responded to questions of Committee regarding background of the contract. He indicated Meewasin would be approaching the City to look at the contract value and adding an additional $5,000 to proceed with the additional panel (from eight to nine).

    That the Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services recommend to City Council that the Administration be directed to engage with Meewasin Valley Authority to incorporate the additional panel and consultation in the contract as funded by the traffic bridge contingency.

A letter dated September 4, 2019 and an email dated September 16, 2019, from Peggy Sarjeant, President, Saskatoon Heritage Society was provided, along with a request to speak.

Ms. Peggy Sarjeant, President, Saskatoon Heritage Society, spoke regarding the possible relocation of the Capitol Theatre artifacts to the downtown.

It was noted that the Destination Downtown Steering committee has this matter for consideration.
