The Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services, at its meeting held on August 14, 2018, considered an item regarding the potential of engaging in an Intangible Heritage Listing program.

Committee resolved:
“That the matter be referred to the Administration to collaborate with the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee and other stakeholders and report on options to possibly engage in the Intangible Heritage Listing program for 2019”

The Administration has requested to speak to provide a brief overview of Intangible Heritage and the speak to some of the work that has been undertaken.

Attached are the funding statistics provided by the Administration related to the Municipal Heritage Program.

The Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee has been invited to the 2020 Heritage Forum, “Our Places - Our Stories That Matter”, taking take place at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon, on Thursday, February 27, 2020.

At the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee meeting held on April 3, 2019 the Committee resolved:

That the Subcommittee memberships be approved as follows:

  • Events Subcommittee - Paula Lichtenwald, Cera Youngson, Brenden Wehkamp, and Andrew Wallace;
  • Policy and Planning Subcommittee - Lenore Swystun, Tara Janzen and James Scott; and
  • Education and Awareness Subcommittee - Andrew Wallace, Katie Edwards, Garry Anaquod, Cera Youngson, James Scott, and DeeAnn Mercier.

The Committee is requested to update the membership where required.

In accordance with the Committees Terms of Reference, it shall submit an annual report outlining the previous year's accomplishments and a work plan for the upcoming year.

This is a standing item on the agenda for the Committee, and/or any subcommittees, to provide updates regarding items on its work plan and any matters being referred to the Standing Policy Committee for consideration.

As stated in the Terms of Reference, the Committee shall submit an annual report, in the prescribed form, outlining the previous year's accomplishments and a work plan for the upcoming year, to City Council through the Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services. This report shall be submitted by March 31, 2020 and serve to demonstrate how the Committee remains relevant and current.

A copy of the 2018 Annual Report and the 2019 work plan is provided.

The Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee's goals and priorities for the Committee are attached for review to assist with discussion on the 2020 work plan.

    That the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee draft a Work Plan for 2020 for submission to City Council through the Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services by March 31, 2020.
