CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Clark called the meeting to order on Treaty 6 Territory and the Traditional Homeland of the Métis People followed by the National Anthem.   He confirmed roll call of Council members.

CONFIRMATION OF AGENDA

  1. That the following requests to speak be added to Item 4.1:
     1. Brent Penner, dated December 8, 2021;
     2. Tribal Chief Mark Arcand, dated December 8, 2021; and
  2. That the agenda be confirmed as amended.

REPORTS

4.1

Request to Lease of City Owned Space 145 1st Avenue Saskatoon Tribal Council for Temporary Emergency Shelter [File No. CK 600-3, x270-9]

A report from Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services was provided.  

The following requests to speak were also provided:

1. Brent Penner, dated December 8, 2021;
2. Tribal Chief Mark Arcand, dated December 8, 2021

Councillor Loewen as Vice Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services introduced the item.

Council heard from Brent Penner and Tribal Chief Mark Arcand regarding the matter.

Administration responded to questions of Council.

  1. That the City enter a Lease with Saskatoon Tribal Council for approximately 9,850 square feet of floor space at 145 1^St Avenue North, ISC Parcel No. 120164206, for the purpose of providing a temporary emergency residential shelter, based on the terms outlined in the December 7, 2021 report of the Fire Chief; and
  2. That the City Solicitor be requested to prepare the appropriate agreements and that His Worship the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to execute the agreements under the Corporate Seal.
