Deputy City Clerk Bryant called the meeting to order on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis people.  

The Deputy City Clerk reported that City Council, at its Regular Business Meeting held on September 30, 2019 made the following appointments for 2020:

Deputy City Clerk Bryant opened nominations for Chair.  Councillor Block nominated Councillor Dubois. No further nominations were received.  A motion was passed to appoint Councillor Dubois as Chair.

 

Councillor Dubois took the Chair and opened nominations for Vice-Chair.  Councillor Gersher nominated Councillor Jeffries.  No further nominations were received.

    Item 7.3.1 was brought forward and considered.


An email from Darren Gilchrist, President, AEBC Saskatoon, dated January 2, 2020 was provided.

Deputy City Clerk Bryant indicated that there is a previous resolution that the Leadership Team Governance Subcommittee be directed to engage with the Advisory Committees with respect to the revised Terms of Reference by the second quarter of 2021, and suggested this item could be included with that review.

    Item 8.1.1 was considered following Item 7.2.1


An email along with photos, from Sandra Knipple, dated December 19, 2019 was provided.

Sandra Knipple expressed concern with regard to the traffic lights and school signage along 33rd Street between Idylwyld Drive and the 2nd Avenue North/Warman Road intersection, and requested that the signs be more visible to motorists, particularly with regard to St. Michael Community School, and steps be taken to reduce congestion along 33rd Street.

Director of Transportation Magus responded to questions of the Committee.

General Manager, Transportation and Construction Department Schmidt presented the report.

The Deputy City Clerk reported that Councillor Gersher provided the following Notice of Motion at the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation held on December 2, 2019:

"That Administration report on the process for introducing or expanding transit within new and developing neighbourhoods.  Information for inclusion includes the process of bringing in service to a neighbourhood, the mechanism for funding established service levels and the information provided to residents on the expectation for establishing service."
