The Board heard from Randy Pshebylo, Executive Director, Riversdale Business Improvement District, who provided a PowerPoint presentation and responded to questions.

A/Chief Haye spoke to the following:

  • Chief McBride attended the recruitment graduation at Saskatchewan Police College on May 31, 2024.  Ten SPS Officers graduated;
  • Out of 15 individuals interviewed, 11 of them will go to Saskatchewan Police College and an additional  person who wasn't able to finish earlier in the year;
  • Community Engagement Division hosted the 4th Annual Pride BBQ on June 19, 2024, proceeds went to LGBTQIA2S+ youth initiatives.  SPS have also be asked to participate in the Pride Parade on June 22, 2024;
  • Deputy Chief Pringle, along with other SPS members will attend and take part in National Indigenous Peoples Day events on June 21, 2024;
  • Chief McBride's Swearing in Ceremony is scheduled for June 25, 2024;
  • Provided an update on an operational plan that took place from June 13 to 16, 2024 in the Confederation Suburban area. Purpose of the plan was to deter, detect and investigate activities related to theft, public intoxication and suspicious activities in the 300 and 400 blocks of Confederation Drive. As a result, 11 arrests were made including mischief to property, public intoxication, and thefts; and
  • An operational plan in the Criminal Investigations Division started June 19, 2024 and will run for two weeks to provide high visibility and enforcement in response to crime in areas that are experiencing an increase in violent crime. An update will be provided at a later date.

At its meeting held on April 18, 2024, the Board of Police Commissioners resolved that the Saskatoon Police Service review the findings and consider opportunities for social procurement such as community-driven outcomes purchasing and report back to the Board.


In this regard, a report of the Chief of Police was provided.

A/Chief Haye presented the report.

City Clerk Tittemore responded to questions regarding the process for informing individuals who have previously submitted communications on a matter being considered by the Board. Going forward the Board Administration will implement a process to inform individuals in this regard.

At its meeting held on March 21, 2024, the Board of Police Commissioners resolved in part that the report of the Interim Chief of Police be forwarded to the appropriate committee of Saskatoon City Council for a response.


In this regard, an email from City Council's Governance and Priorities Committee, dated May 17, 2024 was provided.

With the departure of the current vice-chair on June 30, 2024, the Board was requested to elect a new vice-chair effective July 1, 2024.

    That the Board elect Commissioner Lagimodiere as vice-chair of the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners effective July 1, 2024.

  • Decriminalization for Simple Possession of Illicit Drugs
  • Diversion for Possession of Illicit Drug Charges and other Criminal Code Offences."
